Funds raised by the Foundation are used by the Academy to support its educational mission.

As physicians we will always have our medical school alma maters, but our Academy is truly our “University for Life.”  From residency through the life of our practices, our Academy continues to provide us with the most useful, up-to-date and clinically relevant educational resources available.

For 30 years, the Foundation has helped advance lifelong ophthalmic education for Academy members.  Through unrestricted grants to the Academy, the Foundation has helped support traditional educational mainstays such as the Basic and Clinical Sciences Study Course (BCSC’s), as well as the innovative and highly valued and free member benefit, the ONE Network which is now used by over 16,000 Academy members worldwide.

Much of the Foundation’s success and ability to support these valuable educational resources is due to the financial support of many Academy members who donate to the Foundation each year.  Over time, the number of Academy members whose lifetime giving has reach or exceed $25,000 has grown to 41 and the number continues to increase each year.
