Standefer, MD. | International Assistance The Foundation, through its international assistance activities, provides free Academy educational materials to training programs in developing countries and provides practicing ophthalmologists in those regions with opportunities to participate in educational and skills transfer courses at the Academy’s Annual Meeting. | | |  | Ophthalmic Heritage & Museum of Vision The Foundation’s Museum of Vision preserves this history and translates it into an educational resource for use by Academy members, medical historians, researchers and the public as they seek to understand ophthalmology’s contributions to society and address similar challenges today and in the future. | | |  | EyeCare America EyeCare America works to reduce avoidable blindness and severe visual impairment by raising awareness about eye disease and care, providing free eye health educational materials and facilitating access to medical eye care. | | |  | Ophthalmic Business Relations The Foundation greatly appreciates the support provided by ophthalmic businesses and grant-making organizations, whose generous gifts, grants and sponsorship have enabled the achievements of the Academy and the Foundation’s programs. Additionally, the Academy Foundation strengthens the relationship between ophthalmic businesses and ophthalmology through its Ophthalmic Business Council (OBC), formerly the Corporate Advisory Council. The OBC’s purpose is to bring together leaders from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and ophthalmic businesses, providing opportunities to exchange information and ideas, and by doing so, improve the quality of care among patients. | | |
